Tariq qualified with honours from Manchester University in 2001. He went on to work in General Practice while gaining an advanced qualification in restorative dentistry.
Since 2003, Tariq has practiced in the dental surgery at Harvey Nichols in Central Manchester where his work includes smile makeovers and facial rejuvenation.
Tariq’s special interest is in dental implants and advanced cosmetic and restorative dentistry. He has worked closely with Surinder Hundle who is the cosmetic dentist on Channel Fours “10 Years Younger” programme. In fact Tariq himself has appeared as the cosmetic dentist in programmes on Channel M and Living TV.
Tariq’s caring and professional manner plays a big part in his treatment of nervous patients and he is committed to helping people overcome their fears.
We are all delighted to welcome Tariq to the practice at “Carisbrook” and are sure that his excellent clinical skills combined with his caring and friendly personality will mean that he is a tremendous asset.

Robert Adams

Specialist in Surgical Dentistry / Implant Surgeon
Following graduation Robert spent 8 years in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery training positions. He is recognised by the General Dental Council as a Specialist in Oral Surgery. In 2000 he undertook the yearlong full-time MSc programme in Implant Dentistry at the prestigious Eastman Dental Hospital in London. This is currently the most comprehensive implant training that is available in the UK. Robert completed the MSc with Distinction in 2001. Since 2003 Robert has been working as an Associate Specialist in Dental Implantology at Cardiff Dental Hospital. This post involves complex implant treatment of patients who are born without adult teeth (hypodontia), post trauma and cancer patients. The post involves the teaching of implant treatments to undergraduate and postgraduate students. Robert has helped set up dental implant teaching courses and bone grafting courses at the University of Wales. He continues to do this on a part-time basis. He has also been recently appointed as a Senior Lecturer/Honorary Consultant for the Warwick University Implant MSc course. Robert has lectured nationally on the surgical aspects of dental Implantology. His particular area of interest is the reconstruction of missing bone and gum tissue as part of implant treatment. This involves bone grafting, guided bone regeneration and soft tissue grafting. This is aimed at improving the cosmetic results of dental implant treatment. Robert keeps up to date with the latest techniques as a member of the Association of Dental Implantology and European Association for Osseointegration. Robert, along with Dr Idrees, is part of the team that treats the patients for Channel Four’s “10 Years Younger” programme. Robert accepts referrals for Implantology and all types of oral surgery including wisdom teeth extractions and hard and soft tissue grafting.

Ian Sugden
BDS MGDS RCSI
Practice Limited to Endodontics
Ian qualified from Sheffield University in 1980 and has spent many years working in general and specialist practice, whilst also gaining his MGDS qualification. During his time in general practice Ian developed a passion for endodontics and has spent the intervening part of his career dedicated to endodontics.

To further his skills and knowledge Ian has invested a large amount of time to further study. Ian has also lectured for many years at the prestigious London Teaching Hospital. During his time here he taught both under graduates and post graduates and successfully treated complex endodontic referrals from general practice. Ian’s teaching has also led him to work as a clinical teaching assistant in endodontics at both Manchester and Newcastle Universities.

Ian briefly emigrated to Australia for a few years where he ran his own successful Endodontic Referral Service. On Ian’s return to the UK we were fortunate that he chose to work with us at Carisbrook Dental Care and we have benefited from his wealth of experience in endodontics.

Ian attends numerous lectures and events to maintain his up to date knowledge and skills. Here at Carisbrook Ian uses cutting edge treatment modalities such as chair side microscopes, Obtura System B and a variety of rotary endodontic file systems.

Ian accepts referrals for endodontic opinions, root canal therapy, re-root canal therapy, apicectomies, perforation repairs, post removal and core build-ups. All patients will be returned to referring practitioners once treatment has been completed unless stated otherwise.

Anxious Patients Help

We really enjoy helping people get over their nervousness.

We understand that all people are different and so are their anxieties.

First of all - don't feel embarrassed - a very large proportion of the population is nervous of treatment. We want to help you - over the years we have had many successes in helping people get over their fears about dentistry.


Usually we will put you in control. If at any point either before or during treatment, you want us to stop - just let us know.
